The pictures with me having fun while wearing the red swimsuit or while I’m touching my butt are great as well. The latter was done completely unconsciously… One of my habits.”

And when asked about her 20th birthday, she expressed,
“I want to further expand my acting and my range of roles. It’s not about looking good on screen, but about being able to fascinate the viewers. That’s what I want people to say about me, that’s the kind of actress I want to become.”

Remembering Japan's Great Tohoku Earthquake

Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGoV
March 11th 2011, Japan was hit by a 8.9 magnitude earthquake which then resulted to a 10-meter tall tsunami that hit the northeast of Japan, dubbed as the “2011 Tōhoku earthquake.” Thousands of lives have been lost in just one swoop. Help came from various parts of the world.

Just hours after that, various TV stations had cancelled their regular programming including TV-Asahi's then Super Hero Time, Kamen Rider OOO and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger that we regularly watch, as they focus on relief and giving up-to-date news to the said event.

Worried fans of various Japanese celebrities breathe freely as various sites listed compilations of those who are "checked in safe" after the quake. A hoax circulating about the death Pokemon creator Satoshi Tajiriwas later pronounced fake.

Riders Rangers and Rambles, or RRR, with CS-Toys Japan, along with other tokusatsu blogs, forums and websites joined forces to do our best to help the country, the home of tokusatsu, that we all love. Dubbed as the "Super Hero Time" Donation Drive, it collected a total of US$8,255 which was donated to Red Cross Japan.

Dragon Ball's Akira Toriyama Raises Funds for Quake, Tsunami Victims
Many artists had given their best to cheer-up Japan in those times of crisis. Former and current tokusatsu actors cheer children with encouraging words via Teruaki Ogawa's @TokusatsuHero Twitter page.

T.M. Revolution and Gackt organizes charity concerts. Akira Toriyama andKunio Okawara posted their own artworks online. Original Fullmetal Alchemist and Rurouni Kenshin artworks were auctioned to raise fundsfor Japan relief.

Kamen Rider Statue Miyagi
Amidst of the disaster, a Kamen Rider statue was seen standing undefeated in Ishinomaki in Miyagi, a city hit by the tsunami, and considered as the hometown to Kamen Rider. Buildings around the city are left in shambles, but the statue stands tall and gives courage and hope to those who fell victim to the terrifying events.

After a year had passed, the effects of the disaster were still visible.Although much of the debris has been cleared, survivors from the devastated north-east have complained about slow recovery efforts.

Remembering Japan's Great Tohoku Earthquake
One day before national commemorations, the families and loved ones of victims began to pay their respects at the graves of those they have lost. In Iwaki City in Fukushima, thousands of candles were lit, ceremonial bells were rung and monks chanted.

Anti-nuclear protests are also scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Fukushima and other parts of the country to coincide with the anniversary.

Why Japanese Entertainment is Great

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Yoko Littner
The Japanese have a well-established entertainment industry, which is also one of the largest and most innovative in the world. There are plenty of attractions when it comes to Japanese entertainment, some of which are outlined below. This may come as a surprise, given the culture and language barrier.
  • Amusement and Theme Parks – Japan has numerous amusement parks. The Tokyo Disney Resort is the most popular. It is just 15 minutes away from Tokyo station, by train. You’ll find lots of activities here to keep the entire family well entertained during your visit. A trip to the Tokyo Disney Resort is a great opportunity to appreciate Japanese talent in product design. The buildings, facilities and Disney features here are simply spectacular.
One Piece New World
  • Comics and Cartoons – Japanese comics and cartoons are very entertaining. The comics are known as manga while the cartoons are referred to as anime. A remarkable diversity is represented by Japanese manga and anime. Topics include culture, food, science fiction, and travel guides. They also cater to various ages and interest groups. Sailor Moon and Pokemon are two types of anime that have become popular in many other countries, besides Japan.
Kamen Rider Den-O Double Action Axe Form
  • Enka – If you appreciate Japanese culture, you’ll love enka music. This was popular before and shortly after the Second World War. Enka is still popular with the older generation in Japan as it allows them to relive the past. Enka performances dwell on various topics, including unlucky love and family cohesion. Women singers usually wear kimonos when performing and display an amazing diversity of kimono fashion.
AKB48 Heavy Rotation
  • Karaoke – When you accompany the instrumental version of a song by singing the lyrics, this is referred to as karaoke. As you sing, the lyrics are displayed on a screen. Karaoke is a great way to entertain others, have fun and be entertained. It also allows you to explore your musical and artistic talents. Karaoke shops and bars are highly popular and are found all over Japan. Karaoke players also perform in homes.

Although this form of entertainment has its origins in Japan, it has rapidly become popular in many countries across the world. If you’d like to enjoy karaoke at home, you can download karaoke players and sound files from the internet. Karaoke entertainment has actually become a major business opportunity for many people.
SCANDAL Wallpaper
  • Japanese Pop Music (J-Pop) – This is an interesting reflection of Western and Japanese music. Most of the lyrics in J-Pop are in Japanese although many songs have an English title or contain English expressions. The mingling of Japanese and Western culture in J-Pop creates a unique blend of music that is loved both in Japan and Western countries.

Tomomi Kasai's Photobook Cover Changed

After the issues it faced in the past week, the cover of idol group AKB48member Tomomi Kasai's upcoming photobook, “Tomo no Koto, Suki?” was revised. The new cover can be seen above.

Additionally, Kodansha, the publisher of Young Magazine and Kasai photobook, had posted a new announcement to explain the delays of the magazine. The editors stated, “Due to an inappropriate depiction in Young Magazine issue 7, we are delaying its January 12 release. After part of the content has been revised, all serialized works that were scheduled to be published in issue 7 will instead be published in issue 8 on January 21.

Furthermore, the publisher stated last Saturday that the photobook's release will be put on hold until further notice. Kasai's “Tomo no Koto, Suki?” was first scheduled for February 4th release. [PRE-ORDER HERE]

The photobook's past cover is said to feature Kasai nude from the waist up with a child standing behind and reaching around her chest. The legal issue is over a male minor touching a female's nipples. According to a lawyer, the photograph would have been "safe" if the minor was touching her breasts, but not her nipples. If that were the case, he said that it would not be legally considered child pornography in Japan — even if the nipples were exposed.

Last December, Tomomi Kasai released her debut single “Masaka”. But during “The 2nd AKB48 Kohaku Taikou Uta Gassen” event last December 17th, she announced her graduation from the group. Details are yet to be announced.
